I know, it’s pore taste to just call my couples by their last name but this one is different. It’s Megan & Phill Sheffield! If the name Sheffield sounds familiar to you it’s because he is the owner of one of the best wedding cinematography companies in Sacramento, Sheffield Multimedia. Over the past year we have been planning an amazing evening of surprises for their friends and family. This was going to be an evening that pushed the boundaries and possibilities of a wedding reception.
This wedding had everything, a great photo booth by Profinish Design, Photography by Dream Imagery Photography, Cake designed by Shelton’s and so much more…… It was a long day for the Creative Memories Entertainment Crew. We started by setting up the lighting design and installing two projectors into the ceiling of Catta Verdera Country Club. Have two projectors we were able to project not only their Movie Monogram, but the slide show and music videos throughout the night. Phill and Megan have an adorable dog Lola and really wanted her to be a part of the wedding. We came up with the idea to green screen her into the monogram so she appeared to take a bite out of the monogram and then run off. It was the perfect way to incorporate their pet.
One of the challenges of doing lighting for an event is when the facility has really big windows. Sun light can take away from the desired effect tell the sun goes down but Megan and Phill wanted to have a true wow factor for the guests as they walked into the ballroom. We decided to cover all the windows with a 50′ long LED Star Curtain. To the guests it appeared to be night time with the stars twinkling in the sky.
It was an honor to work with Phill and Megan on their wedding design, and there is no doubt that they and their guests will have some amazing memories to look back on.
This past weekend I had an incredible time with Kristina, Sean and their family! We were able to do some very creative things for their wedding day at the Orchard Creek Ballroom at Sun City Lincoln Hills.
They wanted to change the room a bit and do something special to cover up the traditional red curtains on the stage. I was able to create an amazing backdrop with our new LED Star Curtains. This in combination with the LED Up Lighting, it truly was a green wedding.
We also brought them into the reception with an introduction that I designed a while ago that I call the “Shadow Entrance”. In a split second, Kristina and Sean appeard in the room standing 14 feet tall and making a grand entrance!
I was also excited to work with Jacqueline of Jacqueline Photography! she did an amazing job as you can see from the photos below. She got an A+ in my book and I know that Kristina and Sean already love the photos they have viewed so fare.
The night was full of fun and celebrating that lasted into the last seconds of the day and only ending when the guests gathered around the two of them on the dance floor to give them one more congratulations cheer!

This was much like changing tires, but instead, we changed the garter out so we could toss it to the guys. It was a great addition to the night and really showed everyone that although we are having an elegant and fun reception, we can still have a lot of fun!

I had made a very special video out of photos from their relationship leading up to their wedding day as well as the Nickelback music video itself. Jeremy is a fire fighter and if you have ever seen this video, it depicts what the wife of a fire fighter goes through every time he gets the call.

Sunday was a first for Creative Memories Entertainment as I packed up the trailer and made the eight hour drive to Anaheim to perform at the beautiful Disneyland Hotel. Planning for this wedding started in April. The bride Summer, her mother Susan, and her family drove up to interview me to be their Wedding Entertainment Director. They explained that after spending hours on my website they knew that I was the entertainment they wanted for their once in a life time celebration. During the meeting I asked Summer to tell me about some of the ideas she had for her wedding. She explained to me that the reception would be taking place in the Sleeping Beauty Pavilion, and wanted to incorporate that theme into the reception. I suggested that for the first dance we cover the dance floor with a bed of clouds and as they danced, I would use lighting to change the color of her dress from white to Blue, and then to Purple. To help her with more ideas I sent her home with a copy of my favorite book “The Best Wedding Reception…Ever” – by Peter Merry. It only took two weeks for her to send me an email full of ideas from the book that she wanted to incorporate into her celebration.
Ceremony was in true Disney Style. Once the bridesmaids took their position, one of the largest crystal Cinderella Carriages slowly came into view and Summer step out of it with her father. I created a custom edit of the song Butterfly kisses so that as the two walked down, the wedding chorus of the song began to play. There wasn’t a dry eye in the garden. There seemed to be a theme to the tears that day as time after time, we brought out the emotions of the wedding throughout the reception.
The moment was building when Summer and Michael would step out on that hard wood floor to share their first dance. As I introduced them, it seemed to the guests that this would be just like any other first dance that they had seen before. As the song changed from making memories of us to the theme from Sleeping Beauty, the room was transformed. The clouds began to roll out at their feet, and the dress seemed to magically change colors. The room was completely silent aside from the gasp you heard as this ballroom changed in true Disney spirit before their eyes.
During the father daughter dance, no one knew that Summer paid me a special visit to record a personal message to her father. I was able to place this message at the beginning of their dance and I found myself tearing up when I saw the excitement and emotion in her father’s eyes as he heard his daughter’s voice speaking to him. Her mother Susan seemed to be holding her breath in amazement but later on told me that she was simply in the moment and amazed that she did that for her father.
I try to challenge everyone of my clients during our meetings to bring out their personality in the wedding. Summer and Michael were a very sentimental and loving couple who wanted a fairy tale style reception that began with the Disneyland Hotel, and ended with me as their Wedding Entertainment Director. The combination of the two made for an unforgettable afternoon that I for one will never forget. Thank you to Summer, Michael and their families for letting me be a part of their celebration!
For a party that is, and this one was amazing. It seemed like yesterday when Rebecca and Matt came into the office and we started to put together the details of their wedding. Over the months I learned that they were working with a great photographer, Beth from True Love Photo, who graciously provided me with the photos of the event. Beth is a very fun and bubbly person to work with at weddings and kept everyone in a great mood for the photos throughout the reception. We began the event with a custom introduction of the wedding party, including personalized songs for each one of them. People knew they were in for a good time when I started the introduction with “two guys most likely to embarrass themselves or Matt tonight, Please welcome Nick and Andrew Whitiker. It was good clean humor and they knew how to play it up to the crowd.
As the couple shared their first dance, The room slowly began to change colors to a Tiffany Blue by using the elegant up-lighting I provided for the event, and the guests wanted to share in this moment so they began to circle the couple. This is the moment that lives on forever in the minds of many couples out of all the details of their wedding day. It’s just the two of them, and time seems to stand still for the next few minutes.
The rest of the night was filled with dancing and laughter. Once the event ended the singing did not. It seems no one wanted the party to end and once the caterers cleared the tables, the equipment was packed up, and the lights were about to be shut off, Rebecca, Matt, and many of their family and friends were sitting inside singing every song they could possibly come up with. This was a great event with a great group of people.
One word will sum up the experience for our wedding day “WOW”! The moment finally came when I put down the microphone and took the roll of a groom for the day. January 26th 2008, April and I said “I do” in front of a room full of friends and family. Twelve years and seven hundred weddings worth of ideas lead up to this day filled with fun and surprises. One of which will live on in the hearts of our friends and family for many years, our first dance. April and I selected Heaven by Bryan Adams for our first dance and as we stepped out on the dance floor a beautiful layer of clouds surrounded us. Everything was perfect, the girl, the song, the dance until…the song began to skip. Can you believe it, right at the end of our perfect first dance the stupid track began to stutter. Luckily April and I had a plan, for just this occasion and….well you’ll have to watch the video to find out.
The first dance with a twist is an idea that I have shared with many clients and has always been a treat for the couple that wants a little something different for their first dance. The energy of the room was at 120% percent and the team at Music on the Move kept them there, the entire time. Every moment of the wedding was captured by Phill Sheffield of Sheffield Multimedia, though I am not sure how because I don’t think I noticed him the entire night, but then again, that is what a professional does. The beautiful floral work was done by Katie Edwards of Ambiance Floral Design and I don’t believe I have ever seen so many flowers and candles in a room at the same time. What surprised me even more is that we enjoyed them for two weeks following the wedding in our home. I have never seen flowers last that long.
Being in the Entertainment industry I knew more than anyone that finding the right DJ was crucial to bringing our vision to life. I turned to the team at Music on the Move to handle those very details. Doug, Doug, and Dara had everything perfect that night. I was most surprised when I realized that I did not make a single request that night, I was too busy dancing to even bother. The music, mood, and personalized touches made our wedding better than we could imagine. The images of our wedding were captured by Nicole and Arie at XSight Photography and we will be viewing our album this week. One month after the wedding and we get to see the pictures…Wow. I will be posting some of them very soon to share with everyone. The room was perfectly accented by chair covers and linens from Slip of Elegance. Every chair and table was perfect, and every bow looked amazing. If you are looking for perfection and elegance, you want to call Darcie. Memories of the ceremony have been playing back in my mind ever since and that is due to the beautiful words that were spoken by Rev. Jeri Murphy who performed our ceremony. Her words were trully insperational to the start of our marriage. I have also worked with her for many years and knew that she was going to bring pure elegance to our wedding celebration. Last but not least there is no way we could have pulled all these details together that day without Jackie of Every Little Detail, no pun intended. She provided us with the guidance we needed to create the perfect day. We even got our invitations through her and they looked amazing. Having a coordinator there was a huge help when it came to enjoying the night.
I plan on sharing more details from the wedding day in future posts…stay tuned.
There is a lot that goes into finding the perfect facility for your wedding celebration. The right size, look and feel are some of the first feelings that come to mind when you take that first tour. When you find just the right place, you say to yourself “This is where my wedding will be!”
Now what if you could take the same room and transform it, time and time again during your reception. With the powerful statement of up lighting, Creative Memories Entertainment can do just that for your celebration. When you select up lighting or wall washes for your event you are typically confined to one color the entire night. This should not be the case when it comes to a day that is filled with many different feelings, emotions, and a rollercoaster ride of activities. Let’s say your wedding colors are Tiffany Blue and Auburn Red, these are two of the hottest colors for 2008. As you enter your reception during the grand entrance you see a ballroom that you have never seen before. You notice that the walls surrounding your guests have transformed into an elegant Tiffany Blue, and a smile comes to your face.
It gets better, since Creative Memories Entertainment is providing the lighting you know that this will not be your average night of color. As you and your husband step out for your first dance the lighting in the room begins to dim and you feel as though it’s just the two of you looking into each other’s eyes. Soon you are reminded that you are not alone as your guests awwweeee in delight as the room slowly transforms from Tiffany Blue to a passionate red. The moment is perfect, the pictures look perfect, and your guests are looking at you with a perfect backdrop that accents the moment and not just the room.
Creative Memories Entertainment has the perfect lighting package that gives you access to over 16 Million Color Combinations for your wedding day. Janelle and Joey recently booked our amazing room lighting package and the photos you are looking at are from their event. If you are interested in taking your reception to perfection, Creative Memories Entertainment has the perfect lighting package to accent your dream wedding.
